| Matt Bomer and Tim DeKay in White Collar |
However, according to this Cinema Blend article, Matt Bomer has been cast in the upcoming film Winter's Tale, set partially in Manhattan. Academy award winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman will be directing. The movie is based on a fantasy novel by Mark Helprin.
I'm going to check out this book to make sense of Matt's role; he's playing the father of an adult character. Flashbacks? Or lots of make-up?
Meanwhile, per this TV Line article, Tim DeKay is heading over to Body of Proof for an episode to play a deeply religious father whose daughter may be possessed. I confess that I have never seen Body of Proof, so I'll have to catch up a bit before his episode.

Matt's character opens the film as a non-English speaking 19th century immagrant so should be quite a challenge. I love that he has now 4 movies to film but not sure how he will find the time! Scares me but he deserves to branch out, too talented for basic cable alone and he really needs to make the break now. Hope he can balance Neal and all the others roles he deserves.
This one seems like a very small part. Shouldn't take too long to film. As much as I love White Collar (and I am unhealthily obsessed with it) I'm afraid it has kept him from taking leading roles in films. He is more than capable of carrying or at least supporting a major motion picture. Hopefully, The Normal Heart will showcase his talent.
The reality is, as lovely and talented as Matt is there are VERY few actors who leap from TV star to major movie star. Many leave TV too early and absolutely crash in movies. He's being very smart in taking these roles on hiatus as he is building his CV while maintaining a strong fan base and pay. Besides, by the time anyone knows if these movies are a hit they'll be done filming Season 5 and he and Tim will have just 2 seasons left on their contract.
Also he's attached to four movies but not all of them will get made this year. Financing films these days is an utter nightmare.
Matt Bomer and Matthew McConaughey will wind up with $5 million paydays!
