Neal Caffrey - he's pretty handy with a pair of handcuffs
But this is not a recap, it’s the Squee, so let’s get on wiv
it!
Putting the “romance”
in “Bromance”: I know we aren’t all slashers, and I won’t clog up the squee
on it overmuch, but the looks Neal and Peter were throwing each other, well… ‘nuff
said.
Throwing us a
hurt/comfort bone: Neal got shot! Neal got shot! I swear I was jumping up
and down with glee like a little girl, but you all already knew I was sick like
that. Extra kudos to Matt Bomer for maintaining a believable limp and all his sweating
and wincing were… well-appreciated. Let the fanfic episode tags fly!
The Peter Show: Get your mind out of the gutter! I’m not only talking about Tim DeKay’s wonderful performance tonight (the twinkle in his eyes as he delivers every darn line –being in Puerto Rico agrees with him), but the way the director let the camera linger on his face, his actions, his physicality. I may have worn out the rewind button on my DVR remote playing that first bartending sequence over and over.

Peter Burke: too sexy for this party. You're welcome for the hand porn, Collars.
Aw, Moz and Peter love
their boy: At last, Moz seems to have accepted that Peter has Neal's interests
in mind, even if he doesn’t agree with them. But a small quibble: Neal is a
grown-ass man, he can make his own decisions and mistakes without being looked after.
Though I’ll admit if I were placed in the same situation, I am not sure I wouldn’t
want to interfere in his life either. He’s just so damn handsome!

Peter and Moz look out for Neal. Maybe too much?
The Peter Show 2:
OK, put your mind back in the gutter. I couldn’t get a decent shot of Neal in
those white pants, but dayum.

Team Thieving 101:
Heh – this was almost the quote of the week, but it’ll serve as a caption. The
show is never more fun than when it serves us up a tasty con, and this week
didn’t disappoint. From the bartending lessons for Peter, to Moz, well, Mozzing
it up as he’s conning Collins and working his way into Dobbs’ house, to Neal and
Moz thinking fast on their feet when stuff goes wrong, this was another stellar
example and I had as much fun as ever.
Non-Squee of the week: Mekhi
Phifer as Dick Dastardly
Seriously – there was mustache-twirling. I half expected him
to tie Neal to the railroad tracks or something. <insert EPIC EYEROLL
here> . Can we never be subjected to this character again?
Quotes of the Week
Moz: What happened
to you?
Neal: I got shot.
Moz: Oh, welcome
to the club.
Neal: It’s good
to be a member. And I’m fine. Thank you.
OK, so, this is not an inherently funny bit of dialogue on the face of it, but the deadpan way Matt Bomer delivered his line had me in stitches and hitting the rewind repeatedly.

Moz: Pour like it’s
Hemingway’s last call…
I want Moz at ALL my parties.
I want Moz at ALL my parties.
Neal: I know this
isn’t how we planned our retirement.
Moz: Neal, the
law on our tail, an ocean breeze, a precision heist from an island overlord… it
kind of is.
Must be Tuesday – LOL
Well, that’s the Squee for this week! What had you squeeing
this week, Collars?

One of my favorite parts was Peter getting all jealous over Neal kissing Maya. I didn't think the show could have made his jealousy any more blatant, with out-of-focus Peter in the background between Neal and Maya. And then Peter said "Neal, do we have bitters?" and I lost it! Headcanon is alive--it's ALIVE!
Does Neal really think that tight white pants is the correct fashion choice for someone with a gunshot wound of the leg that might start bleeding again at any moment, like when climbing up a trellis to a baddie's office? They did, however, look good!
Lol--excellent squee! I think "Pour it like it's Hemmingway's last call" makes my top-ten favorite White Collar quotes!
Loved this episode. I wish post-WC Matt and Tim could do Butch Cassidy and Sundance or some other great duo. They are so overlooked as THE BEST team on TV. And any pants that accentuate one of Matty's finest 'assets' are the perfect fashion statement!
i loved this episode...
and as much as i love what you have to say on episodes i have to disagree with one thing which seemed a bit obvious.
neal as a grown man? really? last i checked hes got the impulse control of, i quote matt, "a four year old", acts like a 12 yr old alot of the time, and also he attracts trouble way too easily for anyone to NOT worry about him. not that it isnt something endearing about him :D. besides. he was being chased by someone who wanted him dead or alive so moz and peter seem justified in their concern.
....im not ranting, just clarifying =P
I thought it was really cute when Mozzie asked Peter his intentions with Neal were - it's cute how protective he is. and it is even better when he causes Neal to cringe by 'clearing the air' later on. Mozzie has never liked the Suit's influence on Neal, even though he's grown to like the Suit.
I like to imagine Moz is sick of the romantic tension between the two - and wants Peter to quit stringing Neal along ;)
and the shot scene - I was delighted! we have the same sickness, high five! i just hope that Neal keeps his cane for at least one episode beyond this - it really drives me nuts when a character bounces back from an injury like they forgot he had it. In Traveler, Matt bounces off a taxi and can't get off the pavement alone - next scene he is fine... whatev (and i watched him bounce of the taxi several times too :p)
Neal and Peter are trading observations on their current limitations and Mozzie says 'ok, you're both equally impotent' Squee!
I feel like they are purposely giving us a ton of subtext to enjoy - they seem to be trying to please everyone. I thought this episode was the gayest one yet, but I can still see hetero's not even noticing it. yay!
and I love Island-Neal's style! too bad those pants aren't really NYC
oh - and wtf-Peter's-transfer! the terms of the deal was that Neal would be 'back on the anklet working cases with Peter' - to me that means if Peter transfers Neal goes with him to the new division, but next week's teaser makes it look like that is not the case. So they are already welshing on the deal!
giddy for Tuesdays!
oh and Neal being given a drink from his captor's water bottle - yum!
Oh god the "Peter show" that was O-SO good ! I so much agree with you - Tim's acting, the sexy shots, and oh that bartender montage ! Someone finally realized that Tim/Peter is sexy too !! and THAT is probably the thing that makes me the happiest regarding this episode. ;)
ps: isn't there a mistake in your post: you right "the Peter Show 2" and then you mention Neal.
I meant "you write" not "you right" sorry... Was probably distracted by thoughts of Kevin the bartender.... ;)
@Aragarna: RE: The Peter Show 2: "Peter" is a euphemism for a man's.... well, you know. ;D
iamvice - which Traveler episode? I watched the whole series on youtube but don't remember that scene... help?
argh, don't mention the Emmys - the nominations are out and I'm still pissed off. Those people have NO taste.
Emmy's suck - Matt should have nom for at least Glee but WC too and Tim as well. Sad! I have to say, my mother called this morning and had watched both episodes in a row last night and I had the pleasurew of talking WC with her. Nice start to day. God, can we please get more people to watch this show live!!! It deserves so much better rating than Royal Pains, and the other mediocre USA fare...
Traveler ep 8 (last one made) - when he retrieves the painting from the car on the tow truck (which starts moving after he slips in) it was ~20mins in - love him laying in the back of the car too. He takes a lot of abuse in that show and never bruises :P I could do some screen caps if desired?
@Rabidchild: LOL no I didn't know. I'm French so I don't know all the hidden meanings. ahaha seriously, now I'm gonna consider Peter differently. ^^ Thanks for teaching me something new.
I loved this episode. It joins my ever growing list of favorite episodes. I will miss island Neal!
